I have a badly printed copy (my printer must have been low on ink at the time), so I searched your website to find it, hoping to get a better copy. What I found was a similar, yet different version with a 4th verse added. I'm actually partial to the older SSA version that I already have. If you could make a copy of the SSA version available, I would appreciate it. Our ward RS has been asked to sing at a stake RS conference next month, and that older version is perfect for it.

Apparently, I rewrote the arrangement when Janice Kapp Perry wrote additional lyrics. But why did I write it only for SA, not SSA? In any case, I am attaching the original pdf of the SSA. As I have searched through my music and other music sites with that arrangement, I have found several different ones! (Why?) I hope this is the one you need.

Linda Pratthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07830582940392720730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2002570781821045429.post-89864167146145477082021-04-21T17:14:00.001-07:002021-04-21T17:14:34.383-07:00Sabbath Day of Rest
An original hymn about the Sabbath Day:

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!

Linda Pratthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07830582940392720730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2002570781821045429.post-90576620110830284452021-04-21T13:48:00.002-07:002021-04-21T13:48:48.039-07:00God's Almighty Hand
Here is another SATB hymn that is excellent for use in a Thanksgiving setting.

The text is by Matthias Claudius and is in the public domain.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.
Linda Pratthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07830582940392720730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2002570781821045429.post-42162617501187545912021-04-21T13:19:00.004-07:002021-04-21T13:19:40.684-07:00A Hymn of Gratitude
This wonderful text that was written by Henry Van Dyke and is in the public domain. Naturally, I went to all my favorite music sites to find a nice arrangement. I really did not want to do a lot of work right now. (I'm finishing up a children's book that I am writing and illustrating.)

Nothing seemed quite right. So, here is an arrangement of Away in a Manger for solo flute. The recording could have been better, but I can't afford to rent a recording studio every time I write an arrangement. (Maybe someday!)

I hope everyone is doing well at this crazy time!

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.
Linda Pratthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07830582940392720730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2002570781821045429.post-63532181226685648442020-08-06T10:37:00.005-07:002020-08-06T10:37:59.647-07:00A Thanksgiving Hymn Arrangement<div class="" data-block="true" data-editor="4bmfn" data-offset-key="ccirj-0-0" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;">
Since I will feel grateful when this Covid 19 virus is under control, I wrote an arrangement of a Thanksgiving song: "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come." Is there any reason I can’t. Have you ever had this come up please advise.

Thanks for your question. No. You do not need my permission to use any of the music on my site at a church meeting or for any non-commercial purpose.
So, naturally, I just finished a Thanksgiving arrangement. It is Prayer of Thanksgiving. It starts with a lovely three part men's. Then the women sing the next verse in unison and split into two parts. A key change introduces the last verse which is sung in unison by the whole choir. Then the end splits into four parts. Not too hard!Linda Pratthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07830582940392720730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2002570781821045429.post-69210875030708650812019-11-24T15:55:00.000-08:002019-11-24T15:55:02.421-08:00A New Christmas ArrangementI usually write Christmas arrangements in the Spring and Easter Arrangements at Christmas, but this time, I have something new for Christmas AT CHRISTMAS TIME! (I know. Crazy.)

It is an SATB of O Little Town of Bethlehem. It starts out delicately and builds. There is one small a Capella section - Don't panic! It's short!

So, here it is. In SATB. The challenge with a hymn like this is to get an anthem-like sound without making it too difficult. I started out writing the accompaniment with octaves, but thought some of you might show up at my house with torches and pitch forks. So I simplified it. Feel free to add them back in if you are the adventurous type.
Later, I lowered that part thinking it would be easier. After hearing a wonderful Institute Choir from Japan sing it in its original form, I changed it back.
