Errors Fixed

Linda – 1st – I love your music.  My ward choir enjoys singing it.  I downloaded “How Great Thou Art” today and I think I have come across a couple of note errors and some missing words.  Measure 50 should all be unison, but I think the mens voice note is incorrect.  “with shout of” should all be F not E.    Then at the end – measure 65 it is missing the words “How great thou”.  I will hand write these into my copy but you might want to change it on the copy on the website.  Again, I love your music and use it often.  Susan Wood

Oh Come all Ye Faithful in Russian!

First, thank you for your generosity in sharing your talents.  My wife was both stake and ward choir director in Idaho a few years ago and we appreciated opportunities to sing arrangements we could download.

Currently, we are serving in Novosibirsk, Russia and wanted to sing your arrangement of "O Come All Ye Faithful" with our little group/branch of about 8 Russians plus 4 Volunteers plus us.  We took your music and inserted the Russian words into your arrangement.  This is not our translation, but the words were taken from the Russian Hymnbook.

We didn't know if you would be interested in a copy of our version, but felt you might.  Therefore, I am attaching a WORD version of the alteration for you.

Thank you again.

Sincerely,

Elder and Sister Nielsen

Who Knew?

I just found out that the website: http://freeldssheetmusic.org
that has many of my arrangements posted has limited playback. Instead of playing an entire MP3, it only plays about the first 30 seconds of an arrangement.  I understand that. They have hundreds of songs and can only dedicate a short space to each one. So if you want to hear the whole playback, you'll have to go to my website: www.freewardchoirmusic.com.

Another issue is that they have so many composers on their site that they ask all composers to post their own new arrangements. I get that also. It's a lot of work to continually post new music. However, it is about all I can manage to compose an arrangement, record it, and post it on my own site. Let alone go to yet another site to post it again.

The end result is that freeldssheetmusic.org is still a great resource, just be aware that it won't have complete playbacks and it may not have the most up to date arrangements posted.

How Great Thou Art Medium Voice

Someone requested a lower key for the vocal solo of How Great Thou Art. I have posted it on my site in case anyone else would like the lower key.

New Christmas Download Ready

Two children's Christmas songs combined into one. It starts with Who is the Child? Then answers that question with the song, Little Jesus. They are both short, sweet songs that work well together. It is SAB for those small choirs everywhere!

Better Audio

I just uploaded a better recording of Oh Hush Thee, My Baby for SAB choir. I also corrected two small mistakes in the notation.

You're Welcome.

Next Christmas Song Done

The next Christmas Children's Song is ready for download for your Ward Choir! This one is "Oh Hush Thee, My Baby" for SAB

The last chorus has one or two sopranos singing a descant. or the part could be played by a violin or flute.

I had a little trouble recording the audio file because there is so much going on at the end - Three vocal parts plus piano accompaniment that has left hand playing over the top.

I could have gotten a better recording if I had played through it a couple more times, but with a sister and Mother in the hospital right now, I'm going to leave it the way it is for now.

Maybe later....

Anyway,

First Children's Song Ready for Download

Once Within a Lowly Stable is now ready for download for your Ward Choir! This one is SATB, but not too difficult for singers or accompanist.

It was quite short, so I added a verse. See how you like it.

I am working on some arrangements of Christmas songs from the Children's Song Book. There are many beautiful songs that would make great Choir Arrangements.

Which are your favorites?

No, You are Not Seeing Double

After claiming to write pioneer music in the winter, I just rewrote Come, Come Ye Saints for a three part men's choir.  So now there is an SATB and a TTB.

If you start now, there is time for your choir to learn this easy arrangement for the last week in July.

The First Noel SAB

I know. I know. Choir directors are planning pioneer music this time of year, not Christmas music. But if I wait till the season is upon us, it is too late to get the music out there in time for Choirs to practice. So, I write pioneer music in the winter and Christmas music in the summer.

You can check out the newest Christmas arrangement at http://www.freewardchoirmusic.com/customs/songs/196.pdf

Let me know what you think!

Several Updates

OK,
So I keep writing the ending of The First Noel and then changing it. First, I migrated into a key that has six flats. No. That just won't do. I don't want accompanists showing up at my house with torches and pitchforks. So I try something else. Boring!

Not sure where I am going to end up, but as soon as the last verse is finalized, I will post it.

Another concern I have is that I keep receiving emails from the website with nothing written! There is no return address or comments - or ANYTHING! So, if you are trying to contact me and I have not answered, try emailing me directly at:
ltg.pratt@gmail.com

One more thing!
A observant Ward Choir director noticed that the audio file for Battle Hymn of the Republic SATB cuts off before the last verse. I have tried to replace the recording, but so far have been unsuccessful. I recently switched hosting servers and wonder if that is the cause of all my problems.

It CAN'T be me, can it?

I Stand All Amazed SAB

Alright. I wrote I Stand All Amazed for SAB. Then I went back and rewrote it to save all you accompanists from the trauma of six flats and jumping octaves in the right hand.

You're welcome.

I will finish tweaking and recording it and post it sometime this week.

I Stand All Amazed

Easter weekend seems like a great time to start working on a new SAB arrangement of "I Stand
All Amazed." This has always been one of my favorite hymns. What is your favorite hymn?
